Aston Martin is an English manufacturer of cars of luxury and high performance, belongs to a consortium led by David Richards of Prodrive from March of 2007.

The sale of these British cars of luxury of Ford (of the division Premier Automotive Group), was priced partially in 705 million euros, leaving to the company of Dearborn, Michigan with only an investment estimativa of 40 million pounds.

History

Aston Martin was founded in 1914 by Lionel Martin, victorious in 1913 of the famous career of mountain Aston-Clinton. It had a highlighted participation in numerous competitions of big tourism. Historically, his more important rivals are the Italian signatures Ferrari and Maserati and, recently, the German mark Porsche. Contributing a differentiated English style, Aston Martin purchased world-wide fame when catering the cars for the films of James Bond, the agent 007. In 2005 the mark has gone back to the sportive competitions successfully attaining a meritorio third place in the category GT of the 24 Hours of Him Mans with his model DBR9. Aston Martin won for the last time this legendaria proof in 1959.

During almost all his history, Aston Martin has manufactured cars of way artesanal and in small series; between 1957 and 2000 the total production of the mark did not arrive to twelve thousand units. These volumes have incrementado in recent years. In 2003, Aston Martin produced 1.476 cars and in 2004 gave a remarkable jump to 2.400 units sold approaching to it put established by the Premier Automotive Group -when it was his owner-, of five thousand annual cars for 2006. The factory, inaugurated in 2004 in Gaydon, England, has this capacity of production. Aston Martin will revive the mark Lagonda, and has foreseen to sell the first model of said mark in 2012.
