Maserati S.p.To. It is an Italian manufacturer of sportive cars of luxury.
The Italian mark of sportive cars Maserati was founded in Bolonia by Alfieri Maserati in 1914 and celebrated his 90 anniversary in 2004. The emblem of Maserati is the tridente, inspired by the statue of Neptuno that adorns the Main Square of Bolonia. The mark was purchased in 1937 by the employer Adolfo Orsi, under whose direction Maserati produced the first cars in which the luxury received the same attention that the power.
In 1968 Maserati was purchased by Citroën, that to his time sold it in 1975 to a consortium administered by the ex pilot of Formulates 1 Argentinian Alejandro of Tomaso. Of Tomaso, with help of the designer Ghia, created some of the most interesting cars of all time: Ghibli, Khasmin, Bora and Kyalami, and the models biturbo between others. These names were taken of famous winds of the Africa and Asia. In 1993 Maserati happened to the Group Fiat that, in 1999, turned it into exclusive property of Ferrari. The Group Ferrari-Maserati in the year 2004 sold 9,565 cars, of which 4,590 were Maserati. The sales of Maserati represented a remarkable increase of 62% in regard to the year 2003. Big part of this growth owed to the demand of the Maserati Quattroporte, his model of 4 doors.
Maserati Manufactures three models: Coupé/Spyder V8, Quattroporte and the exotic MC12. In the 2006 the mark went back to be direct property of Fiat, that has it agrupado with Alpha Romeo, with which will share platforms, components and channels of distribution.
